“Keep an eye out” – Moretto suggests Milan could still land Krösche and Hardung
Despite suggestions otherwise, Markus Krösche could still work with Timmo Hardung at AC Milan, despite the latter earning a promotion.
With talk of Krösche joining Milan, there has always been suggestions that his number two could arrive as well. Indeed, the German’s relationship and CV with Hardung speak for themselves, with the pair reimagining the Eintracht Frankfurt model.
The duo are credited almost completely with the work done across recent years and the Rossoneri have always had an interest in hiring both. Yet, it seemed that it would be impossible recently, thanks to Hardung moving into Krösche’s old role. But that may not be the case.
Two is better than one
According to Matteo Moretto, the German could still head to Italy – with Krösche – despite his new role with Frankfurt, as MilanNews relays from his appearance on Fabrizio Romano’s YouTube channel.
“Despite Milan’s denials, Krosche will be the club’s new Head of Football. I also want to clarify the possible role of Timmo Hardung, sporting director of Eintracht Frankfurt. Timmo Hardung is Krosche’s right-hand man, with whom he has been working for some time.
“The Frankfurt club has confirmed him within the structure, but it is not 100% certain that he will remain in Germany. Milan is sticking with him, Krosche holds him in high regard, and it cannot be ruled out that Milan could also make an attempt for him in the coming weeks.
“Hardung has several offers – there are several clubs that hold him in high regard even in Germany such as Nuremberg and Hannover – but also keep an eye out for the Milan option, which cannot be completely ruled out at this moment.
“Krösche will have to fit into a structure that is already tested, the one built and designed by Gerry Cardinale, however, I don’t rule out that in the coming months, if the opportunity arises, perhaps Milan could also try for Hardung.
“Krösche has great respect for Hardung and considers him extremely well-prepared for his role.”
If Gerry Cardinale could bring both to Casa Milan, it would be a huge statement from him. It would also say a lot about the future of the project.
