Juventus: who Davide Marchisio is and how he plays, Claudio’s son who scores goals like his father
Like father, like son. Over the past few hours, a familiar name has caught the eye in a Juventus shirt: Davide Marchisio, son of Claudio, the Juventus legend and former captain. The youngster's superb goal has gone viral on social media. Against Southampton, he scored with a spectacular shot from distance, reminiscent of some of his father's finest efforts.
Playing in the Premier League International Cup, Juventus' Under-23s drew 1-1 away to Southampton. The equaliser came from Davide Marchisio: in the 68th minute, Davide's son collected the ball in the attacking third, drove forward and, from the edge of the penalty area, struck a powerful, precise right-footed shot that flew into the top corner.
Davide Marchisio was born in 2009 and is also a midfielder who can play as a central midfielder, an inside midfielder or a mezzala. He is 17 years old and has officially been under a two-year contract with Juventus since last September. A lifelong Juventus player, he joined the youth ranks at an early age and has already won the Under-16 Scudetto. This year he plays for the Under-18s and has scored three goals. Spalletti has also brought him into the senior squad, had him train with the first team a few times and fielded him in the friendly against Cremonese during the most recent international break.
