Juventus, Del Piero on the pitch at the Stadium: chants from the curva and the stadium calls out his name

The Juventus legend was honoured on the pitch and the stadium wasted no time in loudly acclaiming him.

The idea of bringing Alessandro Del Piero back to the club has never really gone away for Juventus fans. So every time the former Juventus No 10 appears at the Stadium, the chants and calls for him start up again straight away.

That happened again before Juventus v Atalanta, when the Juventus icon stepped onto the pitch to collect an award linked to the video game EA Sport FC

Del Piero walked out from the players' tunnel to collect the giant badge for his Icon card, which will feature in the world's most famous football video game.

Wearing black and white in a vintage shirt bearing Juventus' old black-and-white crest, the former Pinturicchio thumped his chest and pointed towards the entire stadium.

His gestures quickly got the Juventus fans at the Allianz Stadium going. The curva first called him over beneath the stand, then broke into chants in his honour.

Elsewhere in the ground, the rest of the crowd joined in and loudly sang his name.
