Friday’s reports suggest that recently-capped Italy winger Mohamed Ali Zoma is among the targets being sounded out by Napoli ahead of the January transfer window.

Report Napoli want Varela, Zoma or Cacciamani in January

According to reports from TMW, Napoli are hoping to strengthen during the winter transfer session. The Partenopei had a quiet summer: Right-back Costantino Favasuli and central defender Benoit Badiashile their only new first-team recruits.

Friday’s report suggests that Napoli are hoping to bring in a new option in midfield and one in attack in January, but much depends on outgoings. Lorenzo Lucca and Noa Lang are supposedly at the top of the list of players that Napoli are willing to sacrifice.

TMW suggests that Napoli’s ideal target in attack is Monza’s Gustavo Varela, who has come up with eight goals from his first eight appearances in Serie A since joining from Benfica over the summer.

The 21-year-old, who has recently been tipped for a Portugal national team call-up, is obviously a key player at his current club and Monza are expected to do everything they can in an attempt to keep hold of him until the end of the 2026-27 season at least.

This leaves Napoli considering alternative solutions, and among those is FC Nuremberg’s Zoma, who earned his first Italy national team cap under Roberto Mancini during the September-October international break.

The 22-year-old left winger has come up with seven goals from his first eight appearances of the 2. Bundesliga season.

Napoli are also admirers of Torino’s Alessandro Cacciamani, but his current employers at Torino reportedly value him in the region of €40m and seem unwilling to let him go midway through the season.
