Inter president Beppe Marotta said the Nerazzurri have the right to dream of another Triplete, but the club’s duty is to perform well on the pitch.

Marotta spoke after collecting recognition at the Premio Gentleman FairPlay in Milan. FcInterNews reported his remarks after he took to the stage.

He reflected on the role of passion in every activity and said he had fulfilled a dream he had carried since childhood. Marotta also noted that Inter’s calendar was unusual, with the team stopped for three rounds.

He credited the club’s work during the week with helping players prepare to perform at their best. He also thanked the Inter colleagues working behind the scenes, describing their contribution as essential to the team’s preparation.

Marotta balances the Triplete dream with responsibility

Marotta first pointed back to 2010, urging Inter to enjoy what the club achieved that year before looking towards another treble. The 2010 success remains the reference point in his remarks; he did not set out a new target or promise that Inter would win three trophies.

The ambition fits a broader desire to compete for major honours, including the Scudetto, Coppa Italia and Champions League, as Inter’s trophy ambitions have also reflected. But Marotta’s formulation keeps the emphasis on the work required: dreaming is legitimate, while doing well is an obligation.

That distinction leaves the Triplete as an aspiration, not a guarantee. For the president, weekly preparation and the staff’s contribution are part of the standard Inter must meet, with results on the pitch the measure of whether that ambition is being realised. The emphasis on progress and performance also aligns with Inter’s focus on steady progress.
