Inter and Roma Lose Lautaro Martinez and Koné for a Bit
In addition to losing to Club Brugge and Real Madrid, Inter and Roma will also pay a hefty price in terms of injuries after their UEFA Champions League matches, as Lautaro Martínez and Manu Koné are set to miss significant time.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, El Toro suffered a flexor strain in his left thigh and will be on the shelf until the next break, as Christian Chivu confirmed. He’ll be unavailable for the Derby versus Milan, among other contests. He used to be famously durable in his first few years at San Siro, but that’s no longer the case. He skipped just 14 fixtures between 2018 and February 2026. Instead, he has sat out 18 tilts and counting from that date on. The Nerazzurri have tallied 34 wins, 9 draws, and 8 losses without him.
Inter will be without Benjamin Pavard because of an adductor issue on top of Martinez, while Roma are down to bare bones in the midfield sans Koné, as Bryan Cristante is also on the mend. The Frenchman is nursing a low-grade thigh strain and could return for the last game before the next break at the earliest. Instead, Paulo Dybala got away with calf muscle fatigue and should be back next week.
Instead, Como’s Assane Diao injured his thigh and is awaiting the test results.
Our Take on Lautaro Martinez and Koné
Their other strikers aren’t as lethal, but the Nerazzurri at least have some options, and Marcus Thuram, Francesco Pio Esposito, and Ange-Yoan Bonny have all been on point so far. The Giallorossi are close to the breaking point injury-wise. Not having elite reserves has already been costly and risks being their downfall in the Scudetto race.
