Inter and Milan have disclosed the entire blueprint for their new Generali stadium, as the insurance company won the bidding for its naming rights, which will be built in the same area as the current one, Calcio e Finanza reports.

The Giuseppe Meazza will be almost completely demolished once the new arena is completed. A small portion of it will survive as a museum and shop. Forster + Partners and MANICA designed it. RedBird Capital and Oaktree, the American funds that control the two clubs, will finance it.

The Generali stadium will be bowl-like and will be inspired by Italian engineering and the city’s architectural style. It’ll have a cement X-shaped structure and a signature exterior colonnade. The LEDs will illuminate it based on who’s playing. It’ll have 71.5k seats, including 11k premium ones, in two tiers. The Curvas will have a 37 percent angle, like the Westfalenstadion. The acoustics will enhance the fans’ noise.

The two clubs will pocket €16M annually for the next ten years just from the naming rights in the richest deal of that kind in Italy. The project also envisages regenerating the entire neighborhood and will be environmentally friendly.

Inter and Milan, which initially worked on two separate projects on the town’s outskirts, eventually converged on one after Oaktree took over the former. They struck a deal with the local authorities, patiently clearing the hurdles and moving past appeals and reservations. The goal is for the Generali Stadium to be ready for the 2031/2032 season and be one of the hosts of the Euros that will be held jointly in Italy and Turkey.
