GdS: Return of the talisman – Cardinale back at San Siro for Milan-Lecce

Tomorrow’s game against Lecce is a big one for AC Milan. It’s not do-or-die, but failing to show signs of something would be a problem, you’d think.

The recent games haven’t been the best for Milan; there’s no denying it. A last-minute equaliser conceded against Juventus, that start against Lazio and the defeat to Benfica. It feels like the life has been sapped out of the Rossoneri a little.

Ruben Amorim is already facing quite heavy criticism and with the international break next up, he must leave club football – for the time being – with three points and questions answered. If he doesn’t, it could be a long break.

Cardinale returns

As Gazzetta dello Sport write, it’s the return of the talisman tomorrow, with Gerry Cardinale set to attend the game against Lecce. This season, he’s changed his approach, being more hands-on and more visible around Milano.

So, the hope is that he continues to be the talisman. With him in attendance, the Diavolo have never lost. He wasn’t present midweek against Benfica and that’s the only game he’s missed so far this season.

The hope, then, as MilanPress relays, is that his return brings back winning ways. It’s certainly needed and his demands have already been outlined.
