GdS: Rabiot leads everywhere – Milan ready to offer Frenchman a renewal until 2030
Since he joined last summer, Adrien Rabiot has been a leader of the AC Milan team and this has continued into this season.
Last season, Rabiot made an impact straight away for Massimiliano Allegri. The Italian got his galloping midfielder and the Frenchman immediately showed what a bargain he was at only €7 million.
Allegri wanted to repeat that feat again this summer, and reports suggested that a move could be made. However, the midfielder chose to stay, allowing Ruben Amorim to keep a key piece of the team. So far, his importance has only continued.
Proof is in the numbers
Gazzetta dello Sport write that he is a leader of the team, but it’s not just in the numbers. Though, they’re also impeccable. He’s got three goals and two assists recently, grabbing at least one contribution in his last four – a first in his career.
In fact, he’s the best midfielder in Europe this season on goals and assists, a record which he’s only going to improve, it seems.
Whether deployed as an attacking midfielder or a deeper-lying player, he does everything; he’s everywhere. His words to the media proved as much too, showing that he’s a leader of the team. Stating that he didn’t know if his team ‘deserved’ to win against Atalanta after their capitulation.
A renewal soon
For Gerry Cardinale, few players are as important to the team. So, his will to renew his deal has only been deepened in recent weeks. A new contract until 2030 has previously been suggested and this remains the case.
His current deal expires in 2028 – with the club having an option of an extra year – and the new deal would extend that by two years. It would take him to 35 years old and after seeing Luka Modric, he certainly could carry on to then, if not longer.
