GdS: Pairing with Ramos possible – how Tresoldi could be used by Amorim’s Milan
By: Ben Dixon
Today, the talk is about AC Milan signing a new striker, but what does that mean for the gem of tomorrow, Francesco Camarda?
In the summer, it seemed Camarda would have a big role to play this season. Ruben Amorim decided to keep him at Milan under the premise of him being Goncalo Ramos’ back-up. That much has been correct, but he’s done little backup work.
Minutes have been few and far between and it’s essentially back to square one. Despite this idea of him being a back-up, he’s no more than a player to get a few minutes here and there. It’s a problem, and it could be worsened by the signing of Nicolo Tresoldi – whom Gerry Cardinale is desperate to sign…
The ideas
According to this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, though, there is a plan. It could be too much, but there is an idea to think big – like Silvio Berlusconi did, as the report suggests – and this means you’ve got to sign these big players.
The interest in Tresoldi is not a sign of distrust in Camarda, but rather it would allow him to have the ‘right’ playing time. Rather than minutes being forced. With the Club Brugge striker, he’s an opportunity too good to turn down, rather than someone to push the Italian away.
For Amorim, the move to a front two is certainly a possibility, with a 4-2-3-1 trialled with a more advanced ’10’. The Portuguese could benefit from having someone alongside him, as has been suggested before. It’s not rogue to imagine them together…
Having the trio of Ramos, Tresoldi and Camarda would be seen as a luxury for any top club, which is what Cardinale desires: for Milan to be a top club – or even great – again.
