GdS: Milan want Tresoldi – the plan to land Club Brugge’s latest sensation
After this week’s hat-trick against Inter, Nicolo Tresoldi is back in the headlines and AC Milan could be involved in the pursuit of him.
In recent years, Milan have been linked to Tresoldi regularly. The young striker has been looked as a potential saviour for the striker issues. With Goncalo Ramos’ arrival, though, the likelihood of that seemed to drop, especially with Ruben Amorim’s comments about Francesco Camarda.
Yet, it would seem that the Rossoneri are still very much in the mix for the young Milanista.
Cardinale’s plan
This morning’s issue of Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) states that the Diavolo are ‘preparing an assault’ for the Club Brugge striker. Gerry Cardinale is a huge fan of the youngster and isn’t willing to miss the opportunity to sign him, so a plan has been conceived.
It starts with a request to his team to keep an eye on his value and his future, with an eye to intervening in the January mercato, if not next summer. Roma had a €35 million bid rejected in the summer and he’s now likely to cost upwards of €50m, which is a significant fee for a striker who may only play a supporting role.
Nevertheless, Cardinale will look to exploit his love for the club and use it as a bargaining chip against Brugge and the market.
After the pursuit of Ardon Jashari, the same card – being a fan of the club – could be played again, considering he is seen as a ‘perfect investment for the present and future’. Of course, there are risks from the Premier League, but Milan do not plan to give up.
An ideal January
The plan, then, would be to move for him in January, in addition to a defender and attacking midfielder – Goncalo Inacio and Endrick are the two names suggested and Cardinale’s goal is clear.
The American intends to secure ‘key players with top careers ahead of them’, like Tresoldi. Cardinale hopes to build the new Rossoneri by buying quality players with high ceilings, the German-Italian fits that billing to a tee.
