There has been talk about AC Milan moving to Adidas in recent weeks and that has now gone a step further, with details of the deal filtering.

By all accounts, next year will see Milan end their partnership with Puma. The two have worked together since 2018 – when the Rossoneri stopped working with the iconic German brand – and produced several kits in that time.

However, with a focus on improving commercial value, Gerry Cardinale has now looked to the kit and decided to head back to what some may call home.

A romantic return

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Diavolo will sign a blockbuster deal with the three-stripe brand, worth €500 million across 10 seasons. In other words, they’ll earn a record-breaking €50m per season, as opposed to the reported €30m.

A deal with potential for ‘exponential growth’, it’s a €36m increase on the current contract with Puma – worth €14m per season – and significantly changes the value of the shirt. Looking elsewhere, Juventus’ deal with Adidas is believed to be worth €408m across 10 seasons, whilst Inter’s eight-year deal was worth €30m per season.

Above all, though, it’s a romantic return and a symbol of hope to return to better times. Throughout the history of their partnership, Milan have often been at the top, and it’s one of the most recognisable relationships in Italian (and European) football. Now, it’s coming back.
