As a result of his surgery, AC Milan may be without Samuel Chukwueze for a little longer than was originally hoped.

Earlier today, Milan confirmed that Chukwueze had undergone surgery on his left hip in London, successfully, and it begun the rehabilitation process. The Nigerian will now work to return as soon as possible, but it won’t be in the near future, unfortunately.

Out until the spring

As Gazzetta dello Sport writes this afternoon, the positive news is that his surgery was successful. However, it comes with some bad news about his time on the sidelines. Indeed, he was expected to be out until early 2027, but that may now be changed to the spring.

The initial hope was a return to training in December, but that will obviously be pushed back now as a result. Considering how big the spring could be for the Rossoneri, having him back available will only be a good thing.

Nevertheless, it would be preferable if he were back way before then…

The Diavolo may now step up their pursuit of recalling Zachary Athekame in January, thanks to this news, given that he’ll lessen the pressure on Chukwueze’s return. However, that will be a difficult situation in its own right.
