GdS: Milan could go ‘all-out attack’ vs. Sassuolo as ‘emergency tempts Amorim’

Ruben Amorim could already move away from his preferred formation this weekend, with AC Milan maybe becoming a four-back defence again.

Last season, there were repeated calls for Massimiliano Allegri to try four defenders at the back. The Udinese game proved why he hadn’t opted for such a system. Amorim, though, hasn’t faced these calls, yet is already starting to evolve his system. However, it will be in line with his principles.

Amorim’s attacking switch

This morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport writes that Amorim could field ‘his most attacking side ever’ with the injuries he’s faced. It is no secret that he wants to dominate games, but Serie A often needs you to have a bit more balance.

It’s the reason why, until now, he’s never started with two ‘pure attacking wingers’. However, that may change.

Today, the team will return to Milanello, with the internationals returning later. Alexis Saelemaekers won’t be there and there are still questions about Pervis Estupinan and his fitness. Barring those, the signs could be seen.

The 4-2-3-1 is expected to be continued, allowing Samuel Chukwueze to attack more, whilst Diego Moreira should be a starter on the left. Christian Pulisic and Goncalo Ramos would then be the central pieces – which could help the Portuguese.

Even if Alphadjo Cisse were to start, the formula would be no different…

Sassuolo will be no pushovers, though, and their game against Juventus showed as much. They countered fantastically and deserved the three points in that game. So the midfield must be aware of this risk.
