The reports of a renewal for Christian Pulisic have further strengthened the idea of him being central to AC Milan, with Captain America returning.

Things could be very different at Milan currently. Renewal talks with Pulisic have not always gone swimmingly, and there have been two breakdowns in the past. So, despite the hopes to strengthen his position, he could well have left in the summer.

After a lengthy period without a goal, the Rossoneri could have opted to part ways and find a new pillar of the team. Yet, they didn’t, placing more trust in him with the departure of Rafael Leao.

Central under Amorim

As Gazzetta dello Sport (seen below) writes, the American has returned with centrality, as everyone had hoped. His 2026 has been largely marred by injuries, but his return under Ruben Amorim has offered him protection and a chance to rest, with a clear message that he’s central.

This faith has been rewarded with results, too. The American has scored two in his last four league games, and all parties are left smiling.

Decisive in games

Against Lecce and Udinese, he was decisive, breaking the deadlock for the Rossoneri with a touch of class. Moves from the same playbook, he made intelligent runs for both, before taking the ball well and finding the net.

His goals have given his team three points on both occasions, further proof of his importance to the team. In fact, as Gazzetta writes, when he scores, the ‘road becomes easy for Amorim’s men’, proving his role as a leader, too.

The 21-game drought has now been broken and there is no sign of it slowing, with him smiling once again and being more decisive in front of goal.

Figures prove the form

Last night’s reports of an agreement on a new deal, then, are significant. It’s a commitment of his best years to the club that kept faith in him, despite the issues that he has struggled with in 2026. Of course, there have been questions about the future, yet Gerry Cardinale’s wish has always been to strengthen Pulisic.

This will be shown in his contract too, with the American set to earn €5m per year plus bonuses until 2031, a significant contract for a significant player who is considered indispensable by Cardinale and Amorim. A guiding light for his teammates, the road forward is brightened by his form and the knowledge that his future is safe.
