GdS: Amorim’s ‘special gift’ – Milan squad to resume training today after day off
After they returned from Austria, Ruben Amorim opted to offer a gift to his AC Milan squad, according to a report.
It’s been a solid week for Milan; they picked up a point against Sassuolo after the international break and responded with a 4-0 win to kickstart their Europa League campaign. The rust has certainly left after the three-week break.
This weekend, they’ll return to San Siro for the first time since September 20 and they’ll be asked for a repeat of the 3-0 win against Lecce. Though Atalanta won’t be as easy a fixture, regardless of their poor start.
Amorim’s offering
As this morning’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport stated, the Portuguese offered a gift to his team on Friday afternoon. Indeed, after the Friday morning flight, the coach wanted them to rest and gave them the afternoon off from training, believing it would do them more good to rest.
This was, as expected, highly appreciated by the group – which feels closer than it has in recent years – and morale on their return on Saturday morning is believed to be high.
One session before the game against Atalanta isn’t ideal, of course. Yet, Amorim is keen to reward strong performances and doesn’t want to overwork his squad in what will be a busy month…
