AC Milan took the lead in the second half away from home against Sassuolo, but were unable to bank three points on their return to league action.

Adrien Rabiot’s goal three minutes after the hour mark broke the deadlock and looked like potentially firing Ruben Amorim’s side to a fourth win in six Serie A games. However, a poorly-defended corner saw Sassuolo’s substitute Odenthal on hand to bundle in an equaliser, and it would stay 1-1.

Below is how the newspapers in Italy look this morning, and it is no surprise to see that they have taken the angle of two points dropped rather than one point gained for the Rossoneri.

La Gazzetta dello Sport: “Not like this. Amorim points fingers, Cardinale disappointed. Only Rabiot, draw with Sassuolo. The coach: ‘A win thrown away’. Milan don’t do enough, and the tension rises.”

Tuttosport: “Rabiot scolds a poor Milan side: ‘How could this happen?’ They risk defeat against Sassuolo.”

QS: “Milan, only a 1-1 draw. Rabiot gives the Diavolo false hope, but Sassuolo remain a bogey team.”
