Juventus have made progress in their efforts to convince striker Dusan Vlahovic to sign a new contract at the club, reports Italian publication Tuttosport.

The Italian powerhouse had pushed to sell Vlahovic last summer, only for the player to reject all offers to leave Turin.

Vlahovic’s current deal expires at the end of the season and he has been free to negotiate terms over a move abroad once his contract has run its course.

Valahovic set to disappoint interested sides

Premier League pair Tottenham and Chelsea had been credited with an interest in the former Fiorentina hitman, while La Liga giants Barcelona have also been keeping tabs on the Serbia international.

However, the trio, among others, are set to be disappointed amidst reports that both player and club have made headway on talks about extending his stay in Turin.

The new deal, however, would see Vlahovic take a significant pay cut, with the Juventus frontman’s current contract worth a reported €12m a year.

Juventus striker has struggled for form

The 26-year-old has struggled for regular minutes and form this season having struck just three times in Italy’s top tier this term.

Additionally, Vlahovic has been sidelined since November due to an adductor injury, which effectively ruled out on a January exit.

Vlahovic is due back in action later this month and will look to boost Juventus’ push to secure a Champions League finish.

Old Lady's Champions League push has taken a hit

A four-game winless run has seen Juventus drop to sixth in Serie A, though they rescued a late point in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Roma on Sunday night.

Luciano Spalletti should be confident about a return to winning ways when his Juventus side host relegation-threatened Pisa this weekend.

Pisa have earned just 15 league points this season and are nine points off safety having failed to win their last 16 matches.
