Done Deal – Lazio Full-Back Set to Sign New Contract Next Week
Lazio right-back Romano Floriani Mussolini will be rewarded with a new contract befitting his growing status at the club.
The Background
The 23-year-old is a Biancocelesti youth product who spent the last three seasons on loan at Pescara (Serie C), Pescara (Serie B), and Cremonese (Serie A). In his first experience in the top flight, he suffered relegation with the Lombardian club, which opted against exercising the option to buy him. Therefore, the young player returned to Formello, much to Gennaro Gattuso’s delight.
Romano Floriani Mussolini Has Become a Regular Starter at Lazio
The Calabrian manager immediately placed Floriani Mussolini ahead of Manuel Lazzari in the pecking order. Hence, the Roman has been ever-present in the starting lineup since Adam Marusic’s injury on the opening day of the season. Aside from a few mistakes at the back (particularly against AC Milan and Venezia), he has been a valuable addition to the team at both ends of the pitch.
The Current Figures
In recent weeks, it was revealed that the management considered renewing Floriani Mussolini’s contract a priority. The full-back’s current deal expires in the summer of 2028, and he remains the first team’s lowest earner with a net salary below €150,000.
Lazio & Floriani Mussolini Will Sign a New Contract Next Week
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Lazio have reached an agreement with the player’s entourage on a long-term deal that should quadruple his wages, which will further rise with every new season. Floriani’s agent Federico Pastorello is expected in Rome next week to ratify the agreement with club officials.
Floriani Mussolini Also Succeeding on the Academic Level
The Roman newspaper adds that Floriani Mussolini isn’t only finding success on the pitch, but is also thriving in his studies. The 23-year-old will soon graduate from San Raffaele University, majoring in Administrative and Organisational Sciences, as he’s already paving a path for a post-playing career.
