Fiorentina goalkeeper David De Gea sent a message of support to under-fire Manchester United coach Michael Carrick, posting a photo from their time together at Old Trafford.

Manchester United suffered back-to-back defeats against Como in the Champions League and Bournemouth in the Premier League in their last two games, fuelling speculation about Carrick’s future with the Red Devils.

Julian Nagelsmann and Antonio Conte are among the names mentioned as possible successors to the former England midfielder, who replaced Ruben Amorim in the Manchester United dugout in January.

De Gea spent several years at the club, played alongside Carrick, and has now shared a picture on X supporting his ex-teammate. The picture, showing Carrick and De Gea before a Manchester United game in the 2013-14 season, was captioned with a DNA emoji.

De Gea and Carrick played 186 games together at Manchester United and won six trophies, including the 2012-13 Premier League title and the Europa League in 2016-17.
