The derby victory against Inter has brought a sense of excitement to AC Milan, and plans are being drawn up for a potentially busy January.

This morning’s edition of Corriere della Sera (via MilanNews) writes that Gerry Cardinale was among the happiest in attendance on Saturday night. The RedBird boss continues to reiterate his desire to bring Milan back to the top, and for this reason he’s ready to strengthen the team in January.

Not only that, but he is ready and willing to make signings that make a guaranteed difference in terms of quality, unlike last winter when the only reinforcement to arrive was Niclas Füllkrug from West Ham (now the Bundesliga top scorer).

Defence to attack

The first move is the hiring of Markus Krosche, who will officially become the new Head of Football in the coming weeks. Milan lack someone in this role, having left it vacant since the failed summer pursuit of the German, but Cardinale didn’t give up and has got his man.

In January, the priority remains a central defender, and Gonçalo Inacio’s name remains at the top of the list. The Rossoneri are ready to try again for the Sporting CP centre-back, who – like Krösche – was pursued in the summer too.

Then there’s the mystery of Ramos’s replacement in attack, as Francesco Camarda is struggling to find playing time. So it’s possible the young striker could be sent out on loan to play consistently and continue his development.

A new centre-forward would replace him, alternating with Gonçalo Ramos. The dream would be Nicolò Tresoldi, but bringing him to Milan in the winter transfer window seems nearly impossible. The matter will likely be discussed again in the summer.
