CM: Starting spot and revived renewal talks – Milan’s plan for Pulisic

Christian Pulisic will be back in the starting eleven for the first time this season tonight, which AC Milan believe could be a turning point on multiple fronts.

Five games into the season, including the Europa League, Pulisic is finally ready to make his first start of the campaign. An injury forced him to sit out the pre-season, and subsequently the first games, but he’s now deemed to be at 100% after two 45-minute cameos.

Pulisic eyes revival

As Calciomercato.com reports, Gerry Cardinale is keen on renewing Pulisic’s contract, which currently expires in 2027 even if Milan have an option to extend it for another season. Since the spring, however, there have been no talks between the parties.

Now that things have settled down a little bit, with Cardinale forced to allocate his time and effort to the management and the summer mercato earlier on, new talks should be initiated. The owner believes it could be the perfect timing too, as Pulisic is starting to shine on the pitch again.

With better performances, both parties will be more aligned on the renewal front, especially since the gap between demand and offer could then be decreased. Tonight’s game against Lecce could thus be a turning point in many ways, from securing a starting spot to sending a renewal signal.
