AC Milan’s priority once the transfer window reopens will be to give Ruben Amorim a new central defender, with several names on the list.

The long-term absence for Matteo Gabbia has been followed by the news that Mario Gila also has a physical problem and will miss at least the Udinese game. So, Koni De Winter and Strahinja Pavlovic will be asked to perform overtime, but a defender is a priority in January.

The names on the list

According to Calciomercato.com, in recent days Milan have been approached about Daniele Ghilardi of Roma. The 23-year-old is not playing much at the moment and this could result in an exit being evaluated with his agent.

Speaking of agents, Jorge Mendes is trying to convince Lecce to open up to a loan formula for Tiago Gabriel because he sees his client as a potential solution for Milan. Amorim isn’t entirely convinced, but the matter will be discussed further.

The names of Goncalo Inacio and Kim Min-Jae remain on the Rossoneri’s shopping list. The Portuguese is the priority and Sporting CP are waiting for a move, while the South Korean will be more complicated due to his salary and the fact Bayern Munich are not currently open to a mid-season exit.

A player Milan are particularly interested in for next season is the young French defender Leny Yoro at Manchester United. The Rossoneri are hoping for some help from his agent, also Mendes, to help them in what could be a €40-50m deal.
