Bellingham and Raphinha among several players wowed by resurgent Man Utd star’s performance vs Roma
Jude Bellingham and Raphinha were among a host of players who were left thoroughly impressed by Bruno Fernandes’ performance vs AS Roma.
The La Liga stars commented on Fernandes’ Instagram post last night, which showed him emotionally celebrating United’s triumphant comeback victory at Old Trafford.
Fernandes scores and assists in UCL thriller
It was the Red Devils skipper who kick-started the side’s turnaround by converting a spot-kick in the 58th minute, when United were trailing by two goals.
Matheus Cunha then went on to score a three-minute brace in emphatic fashion to clinch all three points – before getting sent off for receiving two quickfire yellow cards.
Despite the Brazilian’s match-winning heroics, Fernandes claimed the Man of the Match award at full-time, with fans now hopeful that he is getting back to his world-class best after a lacklustre run of form.
How Fernandes reacted to the win
Before Wednesday’s win, Fernandes had gone nine games without registering a single goal contribution, most recently doing so against Sabah on September 10.
He’s now added two to his tally for the term, and will be desperate to kick on and start racking them up again like he’s so used to doing.
“The fans are used to seeing the club at the top, and it’s been frustrating for them in this situation. I want to make them aware we are frustrated too and want to get out of this. Hopefully, this win today gives us a start of something good,” said United’s No.8 post-match.
Next up for Michael Carrick’s men is another home encounter, this time against Aston Villa in Sunday’s 4.30pm kick-off.
Villa were also in action last night, and they slumped to a 3-0 defeat away to reigning league champions Barcelona.
