Just a few minutes ago, Davide Bartesaghi spoke to the media about AC Milan’s clash against Udinese this evening, commenting on his ‘new’ position.

Ruben Amorim has made some very interesting choices for the starting eleven tonight, switching to a 4-4-1-1 formation. Sankhoun Diawara is listed as the left-back, while Bartesaghi will supposedly have a more advanced role, like a left midfielder.

The injury crisis obviously plays a part, with Diego Moreira among others unavailable, but the left flank was also a big weakness against Bournemouth. Pervis Estupinan didn’t do anywhere near enough, so hopefully Diawara and Bartesaghi combined will do a better job.

Bartesaghi’s pre-match comments

Speaking to DAZN just a few minutes ago, as transcribed by MilanNews, Bartesaghi shared his thoughts on the game and his ‘new’ role. He made it clear that the core role is the same, even if he will have a bit more freedom.

Where are you playing today?

“You will see later. The role is still the same, but I will have a bit more freedom. I think we will have a great game tonight with the new guys playing.”

What kind of Milan will we see from the beginning?

“We prepared for the match knowing our strengths. We need to bounce back from the last match, because it wasn’t a great match, and that’s why we need to enter the field aggressively and with the desire to bring home a good result.”

What did Amorim tell you?

“Nothing special. He repeated my main characteristics and told me to have fun tonight.”
