ANSA: Cardinale worried as injuries pile up while Milan fail to find consistency
Compared to a few days ago after the win against Atalanta to move into the top four, the mood around AC Milan is more negative.
ANSA (via MilanNews) speak of a ‘disastrous’ midweek trip to face Bournemouth, a game that Milan lost 3-0. They write that Ruben Amorim ‘feels alone after the collapse in the Europa League, Gerry Cardinale is not happy and the team is decimated by injuries on the eve of the trip to Udine’.
The reasons for the worries
It was a game to forget, marred by Mike Maignan’s sending off. Regardless of individual responsibilities, the defeat and Amorim’s mistakes remain, as they search for a balance and stability that seem elusive.
The Rossoneri are dazed and lost amidst unsuccessful experiments and a still uncertain structure. The owner remains close to the team, even on the road. However, he is worried and disappointed because of just how bad Thursday night was.
For now, Amorim remains firmly in charge, but alarm bells are ringing for him after the trip to the other side of the Channel. The coach admitted he’s aware of the difficulties and the need for patience, but he also knows that results are what buys time.
Adrien Rabiot, Diego Moreira, and Mario Gila are out for tonight’s game, which does not help things. These three join the other players already out: Alexis Saelemaekers, Filippo Terracciano, Matteo Gabbia and Samuel Chukwueze.
To address this emergency – at the start of a week that features three matches, including next Saturday’s derby – Amorim is forced to call up five young players from Milan Futuro: Menon, Perera, Vos, Ossola and Cissé.
