Amorim aware of ‘difficulties’ against Sassuolo but insists ‘today is a different season’
Ahead of AC Milan’s game against Sassuolo, Ruben Amorim spoke to the media about the difficult fixture, the formation and the form of Goncalo Ramos.
Milan managed to boost their confidence with a big win against Lecce before the international break. However, due to the length of the break, a lot of time has passed since then and it remains to be seen if there is any ‘momentum’ to go by.
Historically speaking, Sassuolo hasn’t always been the easiest fixture for Milan, even if they won the league at the Mapei Stadium in 2021-22. They actually lost the last game against the Neroverdi at the stadium, which perhaps says it all.
Amorim’s pre-match thoughts
Amorim stressed during his press conference yesterday that Milan will be fluid with their formation, adapting to what the game requires. Just a few minutes ago, he spoke to Sky Italia (via MilanNews) and reiterated that, while also sharing his thoughts on the challenge.
Milan won the last Scudetto here four years ago. Would you like to bring Milan back to that level?
“Yes, they told me, and they told me it’s a difficult stadium. There have been some difficulties in recent years. Today is a different season. We want to win, play well, and continue our journey.
“When it comes to Milan, everything is important, even every single training session. That’s the burden of playing for a team like Milan.”
Will Gila play a bit more out wide?
“We’ll see if the defence will be a four-man or a three-man defence. During the match, the players are the same, and the important thing is to be aggressive. It’s not the formation, but the approach and mentality you bring to every single action.”
Did you talk to Ramos?
“I spoke with the team and a few individuals. I’m not worried about Goncalo scoring. He’s doing a great job. We need to improve as a team. If we improve as a team, everyone will score more goals,” he concluded.
