Amorim asks for ‘fluid’ Milan and discusses communication style: “People aren’t stupid”

Ruben Amorim has asked his AC Milan side to play with more fluidity as they look to return to winning ways against Lecce.

Milan are in need of a win to go into the international break, having drawn against Juventus and Lazio in the last two league games, then losing for the first time under Ruben Amorim on Wednesday night in the Europa League against Benfica.

There is a need to bounce back from that loss and also to calm some of the negative press that has come about since. Failure to beat Lecce – who have won two of their first four Serie A fixtures – would make it a very difficult break for Amorim and co.

Amorim spoke to DAZN not long before kick-off against Lecce, and he spoke about what he wants to see from his team. MilanNews relayed his comments.

Your communication style has been spoken about a lot…

“Sometimes it’s good. We need to evolve, people aren’t stupid and they appreciate the truth. But sometimes I get into trouble (laughs). We all need to improve our communication skills.”

How has the build-up to this match been?

“Good. The pressure is normal. If you get to this point, you’ve already had a lot of pressure in your career. We’re doing a lot of good things, sometimes people only focus on the negatives. We have to keep doing well and try to improve.”

Tonight you want to see more fluidity and you want the players to be less static and predictable…

“We’ll try. If you look at our team, sometimes we start looking for the right positions; we need to be more fluid. In some sections, Lazio, Torino, and Venezia, we saw this fluidity, but we need to work on it and do better.”
