Former Celtic defender Alex Valle has reflected on his brief spell at Parkhead as he continues to impress with Italian outfit Como.

The Spanish left-back joined Celtic on loan from Barcelona in the summer of 2024 under Brendan Rodgers, but struggled to establish himself ahead of Greg Taylor.

Valle made just nine starts during his five-month spell in Glasgow before his loan was cut short in January to facilitate a move to Como, with Celtic subsequently bringing in Jeffrey Schlupp as his replacement.

The 22-year-old has since established himself as a key figure in Italy, earning a £5million permanent transfer following an impressive loan spell.

Valle is now a regular starter for a Como side competing in both Serie A and the Champions League.

Speaking to BBC Alba, the former Celtic defender insisted his time in Glasgow played an important role in his development.

He said: “I think it was all about a process. It’s been a process, obviously, because I still have lots of things I need to improve. But these one-and-a-half or two years [in Como] have been really nice for me.

“Obviously, at Celtic I learned a lot. It was a bit shorter, but as I told you, I think it’s a process. I’m still learning more things every time.”

He continued: “I think we’re a very complete squad, everyone can see it. Game after game, the coach can make changes, and the team always has the same identity at least.

“We can play better or worse sometimes, but I think the identity is what matters the most. Today, I come in again with full confidence.”
