Italian top-flight club Udinese Calcio have parted company with their German head coach Kosta Runjaic after more than two years.

The club of former Bayern Munich star David Alaba announced the news on Monday evening, thanking the 55-year-old for a period "marked by significant success".

Runjaic's side had taken just five points from their first ten matches of the current Serie A season. Udinese have spent more than 30 years in the top flight without interruption, but sit 19th after last Saturday's 5-2 home defeat to AS Roma.

In 2024, Runjaic moved from Legia Warsaw to Udine and led the club into the top half of the table for the first time in more than ten years.

The Austrian-born coach had previously worked as a head coach in Germany, including at Darmstadt 98, MSV Duisburg, 1. FC Kaiserslautern and 1860 Munich.
