Spanish media single out Celtic midfielder ahead of Europa League showdown

Celtic midfielder Mika Baur has earned praise from the Spanish media ahead of Thursday’s crucial Europa League encounter against Celta Vigo at Parkhead.

The German international has impressed in recent weeks under Martin O’Neill, producing influential performances in Celtic’s Scottish Premiership victories over Motherwell and Hearts.

Baur was particularly impressive during Sunday’s emphatic 7-1 demolition of the Jambos, with his driving run into the penalty area forcing an own goal as Celtic delivered one of their most convincing performances of the season.

The midfielder’s recent displays have not gone unnoticed in Spain, with GOAL Espana highlighting his growing influence ahead of Celta’s visit to Glasgow.

The Spanish outlet also highlighted Baur’s development since his time with Paderborn in Germany, identifying the midfielder as one of the key figures behind Celtic’s attacking display.

Having arrived at Parkhead during the summer transfer window, Baur has quickly established himself as an important member of O’Neill’s squad.

The new Germany international has made 13 appearances for the Scottish champions this season, scoring three goals while demonstrating his ability to influence matches from the middle of the park.
