Ross Desmond reportedly takes major role in Celtic transfer business behind the scenes
The son of principal shareholder Dermot Desmond does not have an executive, directorial or board role at Parkhead, but journalist Michael Gannon claims his involvement behind the scenes has increased significantly in recent months.
Ross Desmond has rarely spoken publicly about Celtic, with his most notable intervention coming at last year’s AGM.
During a heated exchange, he branded sections of the support “bullies” with “no vocation in life other than to be anti-establishment” as tensions between supporters and the hierarchy continued to grow.
But according to Gannon, the 44-year-old has since adopted a far more hands-on role, including involvement in Celtic’s transfer dealings over the past six months.
Speaking on the Record Celtic Podcast amid discussion over whether Dermot Desmond could eventually sell his stake in the club, Gannon said: “Not when Ross Desmond has a much more hands-on role now. He’s been heavily involved in transfers for the last six months, I’ve been told.”
