Livingston are without a win in their last 17 league games
Dundee United have drawn 10 of their 20 league matches
Motherwell have conceded one goal in their last eight
A huge Old Firm derby rings in the New Year, with Celtic and Rangers desperate to start showing consistency in their pursuit of leaders Hearts.
The Dundee derby at Tannadice is the highlight of the 3pm kick-offs and it would be a cracking time for the Dark Blues to win their first away game of the SPL campaign.
Celtic vs Rangers (Saturday, 12.30pm)
Danny Rohl's Rangers have taken more points than any other side since he was parachuted into the Ibrox hotseat in mid-October and that augurs well for the trip across the city.
And they go to Celtic with the Hoops in shocking form under Wilfried Nancy, losing five of his seven games in charge.
They have met twice this season, both draws after 90 minutes and this could also be monumentally tight.
Score prediction: Celtic 1-1 Rangers
Dundee United vs Dundee (Saturday, 3pm)
Back-to-back wins over Falkirk and Livingston have lifted spirits at Dundee, but it is their away form which causes them concern ahead of their shortest road trip of the season.
Dundee have lost seven and drawn 2-2 at bottom club Livi on their last eight league away days.
Having also lost 2-0 at home to Dundee United this season, the Tangerines should be the side expecting to land the derby spoils.
Score prediction: Dundee United 1-0 Dundee
Falkirk vs Aberdeen (Saturday, 3pm)
Two sides in the bottom half but with realistic eyes on sixth meet at Falkirk Stadium and it looks like a good time for Aberdeen to be visiting.
The Bairns had started the season superbly after promotion, but have scored just one goal in their last six.
The Dons, however, continue to underwhelm and this could turn into a dour battle of attrition.
Score prediction: Falkirk 0-0 Aberdeen
Hearts vs Livingston (Saturday, 3pm)
Hearts are undefeated in their last 20 home matches against Livingston in all competitions, so top-versus-bottom ought to yield an outcome which is easy enough to predict.
The Jambos' 3-2 loss at Hibernian stopped Derek McInnes' men in their tracks, but the fact that they scored two goals should encourage them against a side who have not won a game since August.
Score prediction: Hearts 3-0 Livingston
Kilmarnock vs Hibernian (Saturday, 3pm)
Kilmarnock have drawn their last four home games against Hibernian and the managerless hosts would doubtless take a point here.
However, without a win in 13 – 10 of those defeats – against a team on cloud nine after toppling Hearts, this promises to be a tough 90 minutes for the Ayrshire club.
Score prediction: Kilmarnock 1-2 Hibernian
Motherwell vs St Mirren (Saturday, 3pm)
League Cup winners St Mirren put up a valiant effort in defeat at Rangers on Tuesday and will be no pushovers at Fir Park.
Their problem is breaking down a Motherwell defence which has kept five clean sheets in six and which continues to impress.
Well's only loss in 10 was at Rangers and they can nick a low-scoring win.
Score prediction: Motherwell 1-0 St Mirren
