Celtic lead Hearts on goal difference after five rounds
Bottom club Aberdeen have yet to score a goal
Motherwell have drawn all five league matches
Hearts could go top of the Scottish Premiership this weekend — but they would need a favour from bitter rivals Hibernian at leaders Celtic.
Meanwhile, it is crunch time for Russell Martin at Rangers, whose top-two claims will be further dented if they drop points at Livingston on Sunday.
Celtic vs Hibernian (Saturday, 3.00pm)
Hibernian have closed the gap on the Old Firm over recent years yet have still lost on each of their last eight trips to Parkhead.
The Edinburgh giants have drawn three of their last four but concede too many goals — only Livingston have shipped more — so look vulnerable even if Brendan Rodgers' pace-setters are hardly flying themselves.
Score prediction: Celtic 1 Hibernian 0
Dundee Utd vs Kilmarnock (Saturday, 3.00pm)
Kilmarnock are 10th in the table yet have lost only one of 12 matches played in all competitions.
The problem for Killie — like so many of their top-flight rivals — is they are drawing too many games when it is wins they need. They have not won any of their five league games.
United are going along nicely in third and Tuesday night's 2-0 win over Aberdeen has set them up for another cosy home triumph.
Score prediction: Dundee United 1 Kilmarnock 0
Hearts vs Falkirk (Saturday, 3.00pm)
Hearts have won eight and drawn the other two of their 10 games this season, scoring three or more on six occasions, and are in danger of being considered title contenders.
If they do have ambitions higher than second then they need to be ticking off wins against the likes of Falkirk, who have won only one of their last six.
Score prediction: Hearts 3 Falkirk 1
St Mirren vs Dundee (Saturday, 3.00pm)
Celtic are the only side to have won at St Mirren Stadium since February and that has to give them huge confidence whenever they step foot on their home pitch.
The Buddies have come through a tough set of fixtures, taking points off Hearts and Rangers, but like so many of their rivals they are drawing too many games.
Dundee do not mind a stalemate either — they have drawn on both SPL away days at Rangers and Kilmarnock — so expect this to be tight.
Score prediction: St Mirren 1 Dundee 1
Motherwell vs Aberdeen (Saturday, 5.45pm)
The team that can only draw against the team that cannot score — so it finishes 0-0 surely.
It was heading for 0-0 when they met in the League Cup last weekend before Regan Charles-Cook broke the deadlock after 63 minutes to earn the 'Well a gutsy 1-0 win.
It means the Dons have not scored in all six games played against Premiership opponents this season.
Score prediction: Motherwell 1 Aberdeen 0
Livingston vs Rangers (Sunday, 3.00pm)
It is two wins in the last 10 for Rangers under Russell Martin, who seems barely capable of getting a performance out of his players.
That will embolden a team like Livingston, who have to fancy they can kick more sand in Martin's face.
In a league of draws and with Martin incapable of turning the Light Blues around, expect it to be close.
Score prediction: Livingston 2 Rangers 2
