Kris Boyd says Celtic situation could unravel after Rangers defeat

Kris Boyd has claimed that Celtic’s issues could continue to unravel after the defeat to Rangers. However, the pundit believes Celtic’s problems extend beyond three poor results after Martin O’Neill’s side entered the international break in damaging fashion.

The former Rangers striker has highlighted recent interviews involving senior Celtic players while questioning the current mood surrounding the Scottish Champions.

Speaking on the Scottish Sun’s Go Ballistic show, Boyd said:

“But there’s a lot of negativity kicking around Celtic Park right now.

“And if it’s not addressed pretty quickly, this can start to unravel.”

He added: “Because there is something broken at Celtic right now.”

Celtic’s results have deteriorated since the catastrophic defeat against LASK in Linz. Since then, Celric exited the Premier Sports Cup courtesy of a 3-0 defeat at Ibrox. This was followed by a 3-1 Europa League loss against Ferencváros before Rangers returned to Glasgow’s East End and secured a 1-0 Premiership victory. Celtic remain top by two points but the run of fixtures suggest that things could get worse before they get better for Celtic.

Celtic had from January to find a new management team and restructure their footballing operations at the club after Wilfried Nancy and Paul Tisdale were sacked. Supporters have been promised change and they have been left feeling shortchanged as, once again, the club have failed in Europe and withdrawn in pursuit of their key midfield targets.

The feeling amongst the support is that the club are slow and reactionary, which means that the modern game is passing them by. The impact of Dermot Desmond also leaves a number of questions to be answered by Michael Nicholson, if he can be located.
