Kieran Tierney is delighted to get back to winning ways with Celtic, but he knows it is 'just one game'. The Bhoys went into the break on the back of three straight defeats, and they knew they needed a win at Motherwell to bounce back ahead of a tough week.

The Hoops face Benfica, Hearts and Celta Vigo over the next couple of weeks, so it was important they bounced back and picked up some confidence.

Speaking after the game, Tierney said: "Massive. I think that was much more like us today. The first half was good, and second half again was good. We could have taken more chances. But yeah, it was a good day, Jota was back, and that was better."

Asked about what Celtic tried to correct after their recent wobble, Tierney added: "Working hard. The press was on today. Everyone was working together, tracking back, and the tempo was much better. We had to speak a lot and work better, and I think you could see that change today.

"It was a tough week. You know what it's like here. If you don't win, it will get on top of you, and we had to get the balance back. We know it's just one game.

"It comes with aggression, and you have to want the ball. You saw that today and it's just a start for us."

Tierney put in a very solid performance, particularly going forward. The Scot will be relieved to be back out there after having to pull out from the international break with an injury issue,

The three weeks off will have been good for Tierney, who has struggled with injuries over the years, and especially after a run of games that will see Celtic play three times in the space of a week from Thursday.

Tierney struggled during that poor run, often committing defensive errors, particularly off the ball, and this performance should give him the confidence boost he needs to kick on.

He and Sebastian Tounekti caused all sorts of problems down the left against Motherwell, and that's what Martin O'Neill wants and needs from the duo.
