Johnny Kenny names Paulo Bernardo among best players he worked with at Celtic
Johnny Kenny has named Paulo Bernardo as one of the best players he worked with during his time at Celtic.
Kenny left Parkhead for Preston North End in a £3million Deadline Day move despite his preference to remain with the Scottish champions.
The striker has made an impressive start to life in the Championship, scoring twice in his opening four appearances, but he still has fond memories of those he shared a dressing room with at Celtic.
Bernardo was another summer departure, joining Polish side Gornik Zabrze on loan after slipping down the midfield pecking order.
The deal includes an option to buy, although the Portuguese midfielder has not completely closed the door on returning to Celtic when his loan spell ends.
And Kenny clearly rates his former teammate highly.
Asked by Preston’s YouTube channel to name the best player he has played or trained with, Kenny said: “I really liked playing and training with Paulo Bernardo at Celtic, he was a really good footballer. And I think Callum McGregor has to get a shout as well.”
