Hyeongyu Oh returns to Celtic Park, John Beaton gets Sunday teatime whistle
John Beaton will be the man with the whistle on Sunday afternoon at Celtic Park when Martin O’Neill’s Celtic side take on Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership…
Neil McCann’s Ayrshire struggles moved off the bottom of the table at the weekend after a 2-2 draw against ten man St Johnstone at Rugby Park. The point was enough to leapfrog Hibs who were in Premier Sports Cup semi-final action at Hampden, coming back from an early Hearts goal to win the match 2-1 in the first ever Edinburgh Derby in the competition’s history dating back to the 1950s.
Besiktas before Kilmarnock, both at Celtic Park
Celtic suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at the Falkirk Stadium with Martin O’Neill left rueing the abundance of missed chances in a match where Celtic did not impress in any area of the park. A massive improvement will be needed from Celtic tomorrow evening when Oh returns to Celtic Park with Turkish side Besiktas, in the fourth round of Europa League fixtures.
Besiktas flying high in Europa League
The visitors are flying high with seven points from nine while Celtic are of course pointless at this stage. Hyeongyu Oh you will recall was desperate to score at Ibrox when he arrived as part of the Gent side and he’ll also be keen to get another goal at Celtic Park. Oh the irony.
The match officials have been named for both of Celtic’s matches this week, before we head into the November International break, which this time will probably be welcomed from most Celtic supporters who usually moan about the suspension of domestic and European football for the International games.
Beaton appointed as referee for Celtic v Kilmarnock
Sunday will be John Beaton’s second Celtic match this season, with the experienced whistler previously handling the 1-0 Glasgow Derby defeat to the Rangers at Celtic Park.
Match referee Beaton will be assisted by David Roome and Gordon McCabe running the lines and Colin Steven acting as the fourth official. Grant Irvine will be the VAR, and he will be assisted by Dan McFarlane.
Celtic’s PPV option for Celtic v Kilmarnock
The Celtic v Kilmarnock match will kick-off at 4pm and will NOT be shown live on Sky Sports or Premier Sports. There is a PPV option available from Celtic which is priced at £12.99 and that may interest folk not going to the game.
Celtic TV will of course provide their usual streaming service for subscribers based outside of Britain and Ireland.
Before that it’s all about the Bhoys beating Besiktas
Before that crucial encounter with Kilmarnock, Celtic’s attention will be fully focused on Besiktas and UEFA has confirmed the match day line up for this Europa League contest. Let’s hope that this lot are better than the crew who handled the game against Celta Vigo.
This time it’s a German crew arriving at Paradise to handle the officiating duties. The referee appointed by UEFA to handle Celtic v Besiktas is Sascha Stegemann and he will be assisted by Christof Gunsch and Marco Achmuller, with Martin Petersen appointed as the fourth official. Benjamin Brand will be on VAR duty, assisted by Patrick Hanslbauer.
Martin O’Neill’s Mainstream Media Conference upcoming
Martin O’Neill should be speaking to the mainstream media this afternoon to preview Celtic’s third home fixture in the Europa league with the Celtic fan media’s ban approaching its first anniversary.
LASK loving it in Champions League
By the way did you notice that LASK won again last night? The Austrian Champions, and Celtic conquerers, won 4-0 going but it was going on eight or nine. Have a look below…
