The boos we heard at full-time after Celtic's 2-2 draw with Dundee United on Wednesday night were baffling.

Martin O'Neil'll's men gave up a lead by comceding twice in three first-half minutes but went on to equalise in the second half, when Liam Scales cancelled out his own goal.

Celtic hammered the Dundee United box in the second box but couldn't quite find the right ball to get back ahead, and it must be said that the visitors caught the Hoops on the break a few times.

Speaking after the game, O'Neill said: "I thought that we were very, very strong in the second half, naturally from our viewpoint we conceded some poor goals, but we fought back and I just thought we were going to win it at the end.

"We could have ended up losing it as well too. On the break I thought Dundee United were very dangerous and they played very well in the game.

"Just a bit of frustration that we didn't, with the possession and the territory that we had, we didn't get the winning goal. But who's to say how important the point might be?"

Boos at full-time make no sense

Boos were understandable amid that three-game losing streak before the break, and they were understandable after repeated European failures, but why here?

This was an open and entertaining game between two teams in good form, with Dundee United winning three of their last four before this.

It wasn't Celtic's best performance, but they could quite easily have won it in the second half, and they pushed until the final minute to do so.

That was the Bhoys' sixth game in three weeks and they now have another three in the next week-and-a-half. Days like that are going to happen, especially against some of the better teams in the league.

Those aren't sufficient grounds to be booing at full-time. A disappointed collective sigh, fine, but when your team draws a game and pushes until the very end for a winner and just comes up short on tired legs, the effort is worth applauding.

That's the first game Celtic have drawn in the Premiership this season, and only the second they have failed to win. A little perspective wouldn't go amiss, and it just sends the wrong signal to a team that is going to need to keep digging deep to get through the next three games.
