Cowdenbeath challenge Green Brigade to ‘battle of the ultras’ for Celtic B encounter
The Lowland League side have invited the group back to Central Park after their memorable appearance at the ground last season, when Celtic’s youngsters suffered a 2-1 defeat.
With the Green Brigade banned from Celtic Park at the time, members attended several Celtic B fixtures, bringing drums, banners and flares to create an atmosphere rarely associated with Lowland League football.
Their presence also attracted attention at Albion Rovers, where manager Sandy Clark praised the atmosphere generated by the travelling supporters.
Now, with Celtic B preparing to return to Cowdenbeath next Tuesday, the Fife outfit have challenged the Green Brigade to a battle of the ultras against their own supporters’ group, the Blue Brazilians.
In a post on X, Cowdenbeath wrote: “The last time Celtic B came to Central Park, we won 2-1 and the Green Brigade helped make it a cracking atmosphere. Only problem? We didn’t have the Blue Brazilians back then.
“We do now. So, Green Brigade… fancy coming back for round two? Drums ready. Flags ready. Voices… questionable, but loud. No VAR. No judges. No official winner. Just a completely unnecessary battle to see who can make the most noise. Challenge issued. Now we wait…”
