Celtic’s new talisman Camilo Duran is a superstar in the making
Camilo Duran is a superstar in the making as he shows once again that he’s the best striker in the country…
Celtic supporters should enjoy him whilst he’s still here as he’s destined for the very top and a big move to one of the top five leagues.
Duran’s brilliant double sinks Besiktas
Camilo Duran proved once again how valuable he is to this Celtic side as he scored a brace after appearing as a second half substitute in the 3-2 Europa league win over Besiktas.
The Colombian started the night on the bench, but soon proved his worth after being introduced to proceedings just after the hour mark, as he along with fellow substitute Callum Osmand turned the game in the hoops favour.
It’s not just his prowess in front of goal that sets the 24 year old apart, it’s his overall contribution and enthusiasm that makes him very much the complete striker.
Last night’s double means that the Colombian international has scored 13 goals in 20 appearances as well as registering five assists for the club just four months into his Celtic career.
That’s an 18 goal contributions in just 20 games, which is an impressive achievement considering he’s still finding his feet at the club.
Camilo Duran a brilliant bargain buy at just £6 million
Celtic paid £6 million to Azerbaijan side Qarabag for Camilo Duran, and that fee is looking like a bargain with every passing appearance.
He’s now very much a fans favourite, and has taken over the mantle of our former talisman Daizen Maeda who signed for Ipswich Town in a £10 million deal during the summer.
Duran has filled the void that Daizen left regarding his terrific energy and work rate, but I think it’s fair to say that the Colombian offers much more in a goal threat than the Japanese international, especially on the European stage.
The Colombian has now scored five goals in six European appearances for the club, and when you consider he scored four goals in the Champions League group stages for Qarabag last year, he’s more than proven himself on the big stage.
Camilo Duran will only get better in the Hoops
Camilo will only get better which is a scary prospect for the rest of Scottish football, but an exciting one for the Celtic supporters.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that he’s the best striker in Scottish football, and will make the club a fortune when he undoubtedly moves on to a much bigger things in the next couple of years. Yeah, we should enjoy him whilst he’s still here because as soon as a £25m offer materialises we know what will happen next…
Here’s the Unique Angle from last night’s brilliant victory…
Just an Ordinary Bhoy
