Celtic player ratings from Motherwell win as 2 players land 8/10s
Celtic ended their run of three straight defeats in their first game after the international break, beating Motherwell 2-0 at Fir Park.
The Hoops took a first-half lead through Camilo Duran, who drove inside and took aim from the edge of the box, firing in off the post.
The second goal came before the hour-mark, when Kasper Hogh stepped onto a poor backpass and pulled the ball across the keeper to Benjamin Nygren. Nygren still had to round the keeper, who got back into position, and he managed to keep his composure to fire high into the net.
Celtic could have had three or four more, but they were denied repeatedly by Alex Paulsen, who had a great game between the sticks for Motherwell.
GK - Viljami Sinisalo - 7
Didn't put a foot wrong.
LB - Kieran Tierney (Off at 82') - 7
Got forward repeatedly and caused problems down the left. Defensively a little lathargic, at times, but a good game overall.
CB - Liam Scales - 8
Played like a leader here. Real presence at the back and wasn't afraid to play a big pass, or even have a shot from range.
CB - Dane Murray - 6
Got caught once or twice the wrong side of his man but generally recovered.
RB - Colby Donovan - 7
Got forward plenty and provided support to the attack. Wasn't really troubled defensively. Played a lovely cross-field ball to create a chance for Hogh 68th minute. Some of his longer passing was brilliant here.
CDM - Callum McGregor - 7
Got on the ball a little more here and played some nice through balls. Almost scored a screamer in the 69th minute but was denied by a spectacular save. Credit where it is due, McGregor was a lot better than he has been of late here.
CDM - Mika Baur - 8
Plenty busy in the middle. Played some nice balls forward and enjoyed a solid game all round. Kept Celtic ticking over throughout.
CAM - Benjamin Nygren (Off at 77') - 6
Took his goal nicely, rounding the keeper and then keeping his compose to fire high into the net, where the ball needed to go. Nygren could have been more involved on the whole.
RW - Camilo Duran (Off at 73') - 7
Took his goal brilliantly, cutting inside and firing off the near post. Also had one cleared off the line shortly after. Duran wasn't as dangerous in the second half.
LW - Sebastian Tounekti (Off at 73') - 7
A very good first half, always in the thick of the action. Came close early in the second half with a powerful strike. Tounekti was dominant in the first half but not so threatening in the second.
CF - Kasper Hogh (Off at 73') - 5
Hogh has to do more to get onto the ball and hold it up. But he did well to latch onto a mistake to create the second goal. Hogh still looks like he is lacking in confidence.
Substitutes
Jota (On at 73') - 6
Great to see him back out there after all this time. Looked threatening at times, but the intensity had already slipped from the game.
Haissem Hassan (On at 73') - 6
Came close with an early effort aftering cutting inside at pace.
Shim Mheuka (On at 73') -
Came close after rounding the keeper initially, but was denied.
Oliver Sorensen (On at 77') - 6
Solid enough but didn't have to do much. DId come close with a header right at the death.
Jordan Latomba (On at 82') -
Got caught the wrong side of his man after coming on and dragged him down to get a yellow card.
