Celtic has that mentality to score in the last minute and Rangers don’t says Mulgrew
Charlie Mulgrew is backing Celtic to have the edge in the title race, and the famous supercomputer agrees with winning Tennent’s Sixes skipper…
Former Celtic star Charlie Mulgrew believes his old club have the edge over the Rangers when it comes to winning this season’s Scottish Premiership title race.
Mulgrew suggests that in a direct head-to-head match up, the latest Ibrox club would be favourites to win, but Celtic’s experience and determination will see them collect more points over the course of the season.
Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show, he said: “They’ve done it that many times last year under Martin O’Neill.
“I just feel that they’ve got that mentality to score at the last minute, and I’m still questioning Rangers, whether they do.”
Despite his belief in Celtic’s resilience, he acknowledged Rangers’ strength, saying: “It’s funny, when I think of Celtic playing Rangers tomorrow, I think Rangers are favourites in my mind.
“But when I think of Celtic playing any other team, and Rangers playing any other team, I always fancy Celtic to win.”
His belief in Celtic’s ability to secure last-minute victories is unwavering. Charlie explained: “I think if you put it down to the last ten minutes of a game, Celtic and Rangers both drawing… I would fancy Celtic to go and get that last-minute winner.
“I feel that they’ve got that.”
“I feel like they’ve got that mentality to score in the last minute and Rangers don’t”
In other news the much reported Supercomputer is also inclined to agree with Mulgrew, overwhelmingly believing that the hoops are strong favourites to win the title for the 15th time in 16 seasons, an incredible run of domination that Scottish football has never seen before.
Celtic after last weekend’s results now have a 74.88 per cent chance of lifting the Scottish Premiership trophy next May according to Opta Analyst.
The Rangers, now managed by Derek McInnes, are forecast to finish second and have a 22.92 per cent chance of winning the title. Hearts, who missed out last season, have a mere 2.14 per cent chance of becoming Scottish Champions for the first time since 1960 after their 7-1 thrashing by the Champions on Sunday afternoon at Celtic Park.
Meanwhile at the foot of the table, Kilmarnock are forecast to finish bottom, while Hibs, who Celtic play this weekend, are expected to end the campaign in ninth place.
