Celtic captain hails the returning Jota as a ‘difference maker’
The Portuguese winger has yet to start a game since his return from his 18 month injury lay off due to an ACL injury, but he’s already shown he’s lost none of his flair or class in his few appearances so far.
Jota or course played a pivotal part in the equaliser against Jim Goodwin’s very decent side as his brilliant cross led to Liam Scales grabbing that all important goal that earned what could prove to be a valuable point in the long run.
Callum also backed record signing Kasper Hogh to come good as the Dane suffers a frustrating run in form, saying that he and his teammates are working hard to get the big striker back to the form that they know he is fully capable of.
The serial winning captain said: “Obviously we don’t get that much training time now with the games, but he is working hard. Obviously he can score goals. He’s scored goals at a really high level as well.
“So we have to respect that and it’s the same thing. It’s trying to make the game more consistent for guys like him, the strikers, the wingers, that we can get them in the most effective areas.
And listen, with all strikers, they go through good spells and they go through bad spells. Sometimes you just need a goal to hit off you and then the floodgates open.
He’s come in with a big price tag. There’s obviously a lot of expectation, but it’s our job to protect him as well and make the game as easy as it can be for him so that he can get his goals. So yeah, we’re all in it together.
“We’re working hard with him and we back him to get goals.”
