Celtic and Turbulent Times

I have no words following last night’s performance. Okay just a few…

I don’t have much to add to what’s already been said and written about our recent performances. When Martin O’Neill gets tetchy in a pre-match interview you know we are in trouble. Our substitutions last night were just that; our game plan wasn’t working so let’s bring on some new personnel and hope for the best. That “tactic” never looked like working and we were utterly shambolic.

Neil Lennon blames the players and others blame the coaching staff. I was shocked to see these pictures from the lead up to their first and second goals. Look how many Celtic players are back doing nothing and the number of Ferencvaros players waiting, in the exact same formation for both goals, to shoot from just outside the box.

Okay the goals didn’t come from outside the box but we somehow managed to gift them both goals.

We did concede two from outside the box last Sunday. Blame who you like but from my perspective the players and the coaching staff should hang their heads in shame.

I don’t know if Martin O’Neill and his staff can turn things around but recent history at our club tells us that it takes a change in personnel for this to happen and I don’t mean the appointment of two non-exec Directors. Honestly, the timing of that announcement could not have been worse.

Let’s hope we don’t have to dust this quote down and reuse it after our next game on Sunday. And that, as they say, is a triumph of hope over expectation. It’s not only the players confidence that is shot!
