Celtic forward Callum Osmand has confirmed he is still in good condition despite coming off at half-time during Sunday's 7-1 win over Hearts.

The Bhoys were magnificent against last season's title rivals, putting on an attacking clinic, albeit their visitors were dreadful defensively. Osmand netted a brace, as did Benjamin Nygren, and both Camilo Durán and Kieran Tierney added goals to an own goal.

Osmand started on the left-hand side and was excellent, often drifting centrally and linking up with Durán to an impressive level that we have seen from few wingers this season.

Remarkably, it was the 20-year-old's first start for the club despite him featuring semi-regularly off the bench, including on the last day of last season, when he also scored a big goal against Hearts.

It was a surprise to see Osmand going off at half-time, but given he has only recently returned from a lengthy injury layoff, it was largely assumed that it was just to protect the forward due to the game already being won. And he was seen celebrating with fans at full-time and not looking as though he was dealing with any pain.

Confirming that he is fit and fine at full-time in an interview with Sky Sports, Osmand said: I was okay. A little bit tired. I haven't played in a long time. 45 at Benfica and 45 today, so I'm happy. Hopefully I can play longer soon. But I'm all good.

"You don't want to be too eager and then be out for longer. In the game, it feels a lot harder, but as long as you get those match minutes in, you can keep building up."

On the performance itself, he added: "It was my first ever start, but it worked for me, and I'm delighted. The team was amazing today. I can't fault anyone. My first 10 was ropey, but everyone played their part, and the scoreline showed you that.

"I always try to give my all every time we play. If I can bring something, then I will try to do that. Hassan is one of the best 1v1 players I have seen in a long time."

Analysing Osmand's performance on Sky Sports, former Celtic midfielder Brown said: "This is the difference between him and Tounekti. He sees the space. He is a natural striker. It's a great pass from Durán and it's a fantastic finish."

Osmand has certainly staked his claim to start again on Thursday night when Celtic face Celta Vigo in the Europa League.
