A Celtic team devoid of ideas and confidence. Sunday is now a massive worry
Last night’s clash with Ferencvaros was a chance to make up for Sunday’s horror show at Ibrox, but once again the team let themselves down as Celtic suffered a 3-1 defeat to the Hungarian side Ferencvaros in a overall diabolical and disjointed performance…
Despite Celtic starting brightly, doing more in the opening five minutes of the game than we did in 90 minutes at Ibrox, we shot ourselves in the foot by going behind, and from then on in, we never looked like recovering as that early confidence was sucked away.

Even when we equalised just on the stroke of half-time courtesy of a neat Mika Baur finish, we still managed to concede almost instantly. So from going in at the interval on a high immediately became a terrible low as the boos echoed around Celtic Park, and deservedly so as it was a totally unacceptable and incompetent display, just like the one at Ibrox.
Martin O’Neill shook things up at the interval, replacing the ineffective loan signing Oliver Sorensen with record signing Kasper Hogh which meant going to a 4-4-2 formation, but once again we made it an uphill struggle as former Celtic loanee Daniel Arzani scored a terrific strike to end the game as a contest.
We had no answer to an average side, and made the Hungarians look like PSG such was the difference in quality between the two sides.

Celtic couldn’t string two passed together, we looked inept defensively, and once again our midfield was brutally exposed. The stuff of nightmares was watching a lost looking Liam Scales stop the ball, put his foot on top of it as the world around him stops.
The players are better than the tactics that they are being asked to implement and that goal kick fiasco has to stop. Kick the flaming thing up the park and take it from there. It’s better than watching that nonsense.
Tounekti showed an improvement from Sunday
Our strikers to be fair didn’t have the necessary service to make a difference, but all round it was yet another worryingly poor performance from Hassan, Duran and Hogh with James Forrest at least looking the part in the early stages. Tounekti showed an improvement from Sunday if you want to clutch at straws looking for a positive somewhere amongst the tactical rubble that has being left.
In all honesty, we are a one dimensional side who are easily spooked by a hard pressing team. It really is that easy to outmanoeuvre this Celtic side, you don’t need to be a tactical genius to work it out, even Derek McInnes managed it or heaven’s sake.
Currently Celtic is a team devoid of ideas, and confidence with a management team unable to change things. Sunday’s vital home clash with the Rangers is now a massive worry for the Celtic supporters who deserve better than we are seeing at the moment.

Another defeat on Sunday is unthinkable but would hardly be unexpected against a Rangers side that will be full of confidence and will be looking to turn the crowd as quickly as possible. They will also go into the game with fresh legs with Celtic back in at Lennoxtown today for a recovery and a debrief and hopefully a new tactical plan to be implemented.
Martin O’Neill will speak to the mainstream media around 1.30pm and we’ll all await to hear what he has to say having had the night to sleep on Celtic’s latest setback.
Remember that old truism, ‘if it ain’t broke don’t fix it’ – well it is well and truly broken and it needs fixed before Sunday or the inevitable will happen.
