Former Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou was involved in another fiery exchange with the Saudi Arabian media after being questioned over his tactical decisions at Al Nassr.

The Australian has guided his side to three consecutive victories, but that has not prevented local journalists from scrutinising his approach despite an encouraging start to the campaign.

Postecoglou, who enjoyed a hugely successful two-year spell at Celtic Park, has never been afraid to challenge reporters, and his latest press conference was another example of his straight-talking approach.

The former Hoops boss was questioned about his decision to deploy Brazilian youngster Angelo Gabriel in different positions, having utilised the 21-year-old as a winger, central midfielder and attacking midfielder this season.

The reporter asked: “You change the tactics in many games. Every time, you change the tactic. Angelo played good in the position last year. Why do you change the position?”

Postecoglou responded: “Because I want to win games and we’re winning games. So that’s why. If we’re losing then it’s a different question. But we’re winning, yeah? It’s my job.

“I think after the last game we won, everyone said to me ‘smile’. I think maybe you guys… just smile a little bit. We won, yeah? If you’re not happy with us winning games of football… every game is different. It’s a different challenge.

“Maybe today we could have won 3-0 or 4-0. We had enough chances, yes? Yes? Yes? Yes? Yes? So maybe if we didn’t play well, we didn’t create chances… maybe you can talk about tactics.”
