William Saliba in Arsenal travelling squad for Slavia Prague after four-month injury lay-off
William Saliba is part of Arsenal's travelling squad for Wednesday's Champions League game against Slavia Prague.
Saliba has resumed training with Arsenal for the first time since picking up a back issue while representing France at the World Cup.
The centre-back's recovery has entered its final stages, though it remains to be seen whether the 25-year-old features in the Czech Republic. Mikel Arteta is due to speak to reporters later on Tuesday.
Saliba was forced off after half an hour of France's 2-0 World Cup semi-final defeat to Spain in July. He went down in a seemingly harmless moment, put the ball out of play and called for treatment before being replaced by Maxence Lacroix.
Arsenal confirmed at the time that he would miss an "extended period", though surgery was not required.
He made 50 appearances in all competitions last season as Arsenal won the Premier League title and reached the Champions League final, and he finished 29th in the men's Ballon d'Or rankings in October.
Arsenal have coped remarkably well without him. Summer signing Ezri Konsa, who arrived from Aston Villa in a £51million deal, has since formed an impressive partnership with Gabriel. The Gunners have conceded only five goals in nine Premier League games, the best defensive record in the division.
That leaves Arteta with a welcome problem as Saliba works his way back to full fitness, with a Premier League trip to face Hull City following on Saturday.
