‘We have to stick together’: Haaland calls for unity as Manchester City face uncertain future
Erling Haaland has said Manchester City must 'stick together' as a club amid the ongoing uncertainty around their future.
An independent commission has found Manchester City guilty of 114 historical breaches of financial rules, with the verdict announced over the international break.
City were found guilty of multiple breaches, including artificially inflating revenues over a period between 2009 and 2018, with the Premier League issuing a statement explaining the 'sham' contracts that constituted the breaches.
It remains to be seen the extent of the sanctions City face, should the verdict be upheld, with discussions around fines, points deductions, the stripping of titles won, and potential expulsion from the Premier League. City have lodged an appeal and continue to deny any wrongdoing.
Manchester City travel to face Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, with Anfield set to be a red-hot atmosphere for the visitors.
Ahead of that clash, Haaland has sent a message to the City supporters, urging the club to stick together during an uncertain period.
"I think they're going to have a good time [at Anfield on Sunday]. We have to stick together," Haaland told Sky Sports.
"We have to stay with each other and we have to stay positive. No matter what happens in life, we always have to smile. So, we have to stay positive, look ahead, and try and win football games. Try to enjoy the situation and the game.
"As I said, we have to stick together and we have to spread the love to each other. Stick together, enjoy the ride, and smile."
